Darya Nikolayevna Saltykova | 10 Ghastly Serial Killers in History

Darya Nikolayevna Saltykova

Russian noblewoman Saltykova was arrested in 1762 after accusations from her serfs proved to be true. She was found guilty of murdering over 38 but was suspected to have killed over 100 by beating and torture. Empress Catherine II quickly moved to impart justice, and though she could not have her executed, she chose to publicly shame her in a Moscow square with a sign around her neck that read “This woman has tortured and murdered” and then imprisoned her for life.
