The Brazen Bull

Invented in ancient Greece by Perillos for a well-known tyrant of the day, Phalaris, to dissuade criminals more persuasively. When it was finished, Phalaris persuaded Perillos to try it out himself to see how he would fit in and Perillos acceded. When Perillos placed himself inside the bull, the tyrant had him locked in and a fire set underneath. Perillos was slowly cooked to death to the delight of Phalaris. And that is the method behind the brazen bull, slow roast the victim inside a metallic structure.
